Any time you add a domain as hosted in some account, you normally set a pair of Name Servers to direct it to that specific service provider. On their end, 3 records are set up automatically the moment the domain is added - one A record and two MX records. The former is a numeric address, or IP address, that “tells” the Internet domain where its website is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they reveal the server that manages the e-mails for that specific domain name. The website and the email hosting are typically regarded as one thing, when they are in fact two different services. Having separate records for them will enable you to have them with different companies if you'd like. As an illustration, some new service provider can have superb uptime for your site, but you might not want to switch your emails from your current host and by using an A record to point the domain name to the former and MX records to have the e-mails with the latter, you can get the best of both companies. These records are checked when you wish to open a site or send an email - in either case, the service provider whose name servers are used for the Internet domain is going to be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you've set records different from their own, the correct web/mail server will then be contacted and you'll see the needed website or your e-mail will be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Hosting

If you have a shared hosting service from our company, you are going to be able to view, create and modify any A or MX record for your Internet addresses. As long as a given domain name has our Name Servers, you are going to be able to to change specific records using our Hepsia hosting CP and have your site or e-mails pointed to any other service provider if you would like to use only one of our services. Our leading-edge tool will enable you to have a domain hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted someplace else by changing only its A record - this will not affect the main domain address in any way. If you want to use the e-mail services of a different company and they want you to create more than two MX records, you can easily do it with only a couple of mouse clicks through the DNS Records section of your Control Panel. Also you can set different latency for each MX record i.e. which one is going to have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you buy a semi-dedicated server plan through us, you're going to be able to see and update the A and MX records for any one of the domain names or subdomains that you host inside the account. The Hepsia Control Panel, which you will get to manage the account, comes with an advanced, albeit easy-to-use tool where all hosts will be listed in alphabetical order and you will be able to modify their records with no more than a couple of clicks. If you have to set up a new record, it will be just as easy - pick the domain/subdomain, enter the IP address or mail server record and you are going to be all set. Additionally, you will be able to set different priority for the MX records which you create in case you choose to use a third-party email provider and they ask you to create additional records apart from the two standard ones. In case you experience any issues, we have a in-depth Help section with videos where you can see first-hand how to create or edit any record.
